Dear Redbird and other lovers,
I am sending you the movement of 4 PTTS, E37, E44, E48 & E50 including GPS, Argos 3 and 2 signals in early May.
E37 and E44 have tried to migrate to north and went to Hinshu, or near Taipei. but They failed to moving up to Korea and came back to Budai again.
E50 in Putian, China also returned back from the journey to north on April. E48 seems to be moving to wrong directions. So I think they feel difficulty to go up to Korea again at spring migration season, because they have no experience.
K69, K79, K90, K91, K98, E01, E14 came on breeding sites on early May. T13, A26, A39, K58, K68 are found breeding now.
and just one year old, E38 came back to its birthplace, Gaksiam at 9th May. How lucky and brave it is.
The breeding population of Sokdo & Bido were decreased, just 6 nests and 80 nests(still making). Seomando also decreased to 8 nests. I think the breeding situation will be not good, because the nest materials are not enough by the winter drought. In case of Namdongji, Suhaam, and Gaksiam, the condition is much better. Breeding population on Namdongji, is wonderful. It already exceed 60 nests, and 32 nests on Suhaam, 15 nests on Gaksiam. We gave the nest materials for 2 times on these breeding sites. I don't know yet about other places, but the situation will be bad because of the insufficiency of nest meterials.
Dr. Koike's research team will visit on breeding sites from 5 to 10th June. and Dr. Wang's team also join together. We are going to attach the color bands and PTTs. It will be so meaningful work. The symposium with Chinese on Ganghwa in this year has been cancelled. It is so regret. But I am trying to hold it in next year. If you have a plan to visit Korea even though, please let me know. Welcome you.
Best wishes, and have a good day!
